Heli Alam is a resident in East London and was previously employed by Community Links, working on the New Deal initiative to assist young people into employment. She has a trade union background, spanning 10 years, working for the NUT, where she represented teachers. She has experience and understanding of the issues faced by local residents who are amongst the most disadvantaged communities in London.  She is passionate about improving the employability of local residents which she believes opens up many opportunities in improving lives.

She thinks that the Advisory Committee will play a vital role in preserving the brand and identity of Community Links, ensuring it’s commitment to Newham is maintained through its work and extensive range of projects. She is delighted to be joining the Committee and hope to make a valuable contribution in meeting it’s strategic objectives and shaping future activities for the benefit of local residents.
