Create Your Future (CYF) aims to shape the employment environment for economically inactive women who are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) by improving their confidence, aspirations and networks. We work with employers and policy makers to understand the barriers for BAME women seeking work, delivering deeper support and creating improved pathways to employment, training and education.

Our facilitators offer a wide variety of training workshops, which increase personal confidence and motivation; explore personal barriers to positive progression; develop core skills; consider employment options; and build relationships with peers and advisors. The workshops utilise a range of creative methods to bring the best out of the participants and allow them to express themselves and their aspirations.

We support BAME women as decision makers, advocates, and community change-agents by building collaborative structures, developing transparent processes and promoting an inclusive culture. Our focus is on working age BAME women from communities that have high levels of economic inactivity and we ensure that participants have genuine opportunities to participate, shape and develop all activity within the model.

CYF is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund through the Building Better Opportunities initiative. We deliver in partnership with 6 local organisations, who are: City Gateway, Bromley by Bow Centre, Collage Arts, Hackney CVS, Redbridge CVS, and Lifeline projects.

It runs until August 2020 and, across the lifetime of the project, we will offer targeted support and tailored interventions to 1300 long term unemployed and economically inactive BAME women in 10 London boroughs. They are Barking and Dagenham, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Haringey, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
