Letting The Future In
"There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in."
Graham Greene: The Power and The Glory
Letting the Future In Features innovative projects supported by the Local Network Fund for Children and Young People which are contributing to the five outcomes of Every Child Matters – the government policy framework for children and young people.
Examples of the diverse range of projects highlighted in the book include: A volunteer-run under-fives centre running an international food month to promote healthy eating; Peer education about staying safe and avoiding crime; Sports activities ensuring disabled children are able to enjoy and achieve; Young people undertaking environmental schemes which make a contribution to their community and schemes preparing young people for working life to ensure economic wellbeing.
The book features a foreword by Parmjit Dhanda, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families and includes details of how community organisations can apply for Local Network Fund Awards.
“Letting the Future In is an excellent resource for anyone who is involved in community groups or who is thinking about doing so.”
