Hockey internationals

An exciting join project between Community Links and the Great Britain Hockey Team featured on ITV's London Tonight yesterday. You can watch the piece on the ITV website.

The project brings together a group of young people from our S-team - many of whom have never picked up a hockey stick in their lives - with the country's best hockey players for three months of training and team-building, ending with a trip to Holland.

The group, aged 11-13, will receive weekly hockey coaching from the Scotland goalkeeper, mentoring and training from the GB squad, a special trip to the GB training ground at Bisham Abbey to train and then watch GB take on Canada, and then the culmination of the project – a trip to Nijmegen in Holland with the squad for an extended training session and sports festival, with a match against a local Dutch hockey team.

It is a fantastic opportunity for the young people stretch their horizons, learn new skills from top sportsmen, and build their confidence. Thanks to the GB Hockey squad for taking part so enthusiastically.
