Christmas Toy Appeal: What to give and where to give it

Every year, Community Links and the Newham Recorder work together to collect toys to give to underprivileged children at Christmas.

The Community Links Christmas Appeal aims to give stockings full of gifts to thousands of children as young as two months and as old as 16, who would otherwise go without on Christmas Day.

Children and families are referred by a variety of east London caring agencies and family support groups, ensuring that the Appeal helps those most in need.

There are a total of 24 locations across Newham where you can drop off your offering, however small, to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the borough. All toys need to be new and unwrapped and should not promote war or violence. Gifts could include; story books for all ages, craft sets, jigsaws, stationary, dolls and accessories, cars and car sets for all ages, boxed board games or £5/£10 fashion or sports vouchers, to name but a few.

If you would prefer to donate money instead of toys, please use our Just Giving page to make your contribution here
