Celebrating 30 years at City Hall
1st Oct 2007
Community Links celebrated its 30th Anniversary with supporters on Tuesday 30th October at City Hall.
200 guests from local and national businesses, government and community groups came along to celebrate. This special event was held on the top floor of City Hall, which was donated by the venue in honour of the occasion. Local children and young people delivered the key speeches of the evening – Nicole Tofts (10), Malcolm N’Diaye (15), Terry Hawkins (18) and Arpeeta Barua (23) took the places of Community Links Chief Executive (Max Weaver) and Co-Founder (David Robinson), showing guests that Community Links is looking to the future and investing in the next generation. As Arpeeta said, “Community Links is 30 years old. But we aren’t looking back. We have reasons to be optimistic about the future so we are looking forwards, preparing for new challenges that may come our way in the next 30 years.” Some of our children led the crowd in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ before a special 30th birthday cake, cut by long-standing ambassador Sir David Walker, was shared among the guests.
All guests were asked to pledge their support to help Community Links buy anniversary ‘gifts’ for its projects, people and for the local community. For more information about these gifts, visit our 30th anniversary page.
