Hockey internationals
An exciting join project between Community Links and the Great Britain Hockey Team featured on ITV's London Tonight yesterday. You can watch the piece on the ITV website. The project brings together a group of young people from our S-team - many of whom have never picked up a hockey stick in their lives - with the country's best hockey players for three months… Read more.
Calling all heroes!
Could you take on the 5km challenge and help us tackle poverty in east London? The Super Heroes 5km challenge takes place on Sunday 15 May 2011 in Regent's Park, London, and we are looking for daredevils to don their capes, and walk, jog or run the 5km route to raise vital funds for Community Links' work to tackle poverty. The Super Heroes 5km challenge is open to anyone aged 8+ and there is a FREE Super Heroes outfit and goody bag for each participant! Read more.
Run the Wanstead Flats 5km for Community Links!
You can choose to walk, jog or run the flat 5km route, and there is a 3km route available for those aged between 11 and 16. All participants receive a medal and a t-shirt, plus a donation from each ticket sold this event will be made to support the work of Community Links...so sign up today! Congratulations to our Parachute Against Poverty team!
Community Links' Chief Executive Geraldine Blake - who was first out of the plane (see photo) - described the event as "...terrifying but exhilarating", while a fellow parachuter from Standard Bank was so blown away by the experience that he is now wants to achieve a skydiving license!
