Opening Doors Project
Opening Doors is a Community Links project which works closely with school learning mentors and teaching staff to ensure that the most vulnerable children access creative opportunities to improve their educational attainment and increase their confidence and self-esteem.
Opening doors supports children who would benefit from small focused group work in school educational attainment, confidence, self esteem, social skills and aspirations. Children are referred to us through the school’s SENCO or Senior Learning Mentor. We work to ensure children’s resilience and support their ability to enjoy and achieve at school. Opening Doors provides creative methods of developing communication skills and self confidence which feed directly into improving academic achievement.
Opening Doors also works to support families by ensuring that parents are aware of additional support and advice available to them within the community and by supporting them in gaining access to these services.
We also offer free school holiday provision for children who would ordinarily have no access to such activities (See the short video below). Our project aims to empower our children with the skills necessary to make future transition to secondary school much less intimidating and more manageable.
