local services what we offer

Adult Employment and Skills Programme

This programme provides structured support to help people into work including those who are recently unemployed and those who face multiple barriers to employment.

We work with people with little or no work history, lone parents, people with health issues or ESOL needs and the homeless or those at risk of homelessness.

Adult Employment and Skills Programme

Our Personal Advisors provide individual, intensive assessment, advice and guidance, drawing in other support to address barriers to work. Our programme of coaching, mentoring, employability training, practical work placements, job search support and job brokerage ensures participants are fully prepared to take up sustainable jobs.

Running alongside this, our trainers offer a programme of skills training to help address any skills gaps. This could include learning about local employment growth areas such as retail or customer services, life skills such as budgeting and money management, confidence and motivation workshops (including the GOALS scheme), IT and English as a second language training.

To ensure employment is sustained, our advisors work closely with employers to secure a smooth transition into work, providing a follow-on programme of in-work support including on-the-job mentoring and ongoing contact and advice.

Our adult programmes currently support over 750 beneficiaries each year, moving close to 40% into sustained employment (minimum 6 months). We deliver activity from our main site in Newham and across a number of outreach and community venues in Waltham Forest, Hackney and Barking & Dagenham.
