Employee Volunteers Making a Difference - 2011
Through our corporate volunteering programme, many employee volunteers get involved in the work we do each year and help us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local people living in east London.

Adventure team challenge day with UBS
On 27 January, 10 volunteers from UBS spent the day at Outdoors In the City assisting with an adventure team challenge with a group of young people from Education Links. There were activities based around building confidence, team working and communication skills, as well as workshops focusing on raising aspirations.
BNY Mellon host an International Women's Day event for young people from Future Links and Education Links
BNY Mellon opened its doors for 10 young people to come and participate in activities to mark International Women's Day. The intention was to raise the aspitations and self-esteem of young women through discussion on positive female role-models, networking workshops, work shadowing and a question and answer session.
Man Group hosts a day out to the Tower of London for children from the Hoskins Centre
On 13 April, 10 volunteers from Man Group kindly hosted 30 children from the Hoskins centre and took them on a day trip to the Tower of London. Man Group hosted a delicious lunch for the children at their offices and then walked them over to the tower to enjoy a wonderful guided tour with a Yeoman.
Investec spend 2 days developing the play area at Newham City Farm
On 14 & 15 July, a team of 30 volunteers spent two days in glorious sunshine helping to develop the exciting new external play area at the city farm. The teams helped to draw and paint brightly coloured murals of farm animals, erect new structures, upgrade the play house and repair pathways and surfaces.
Barclays Capital assist in running a summer fun day for children at Play, Sow and Grow
On July 29, 15 volunteers from Barclays Capital ran a summer fun day at Play, Sow and Grow for 40 children aged between 5 and 11 years. Activities included face painting, party games, bouncy castle, cookie decorating workshop, climbing wall painting workshop, food preparation and much, much more!
